Auditions Complete!

Thanks Everyone that auditioned, we had a good turnout and have now cast the show.

Sevenoaks Shakespeare Society are delighted to announce that we will be back performing at The White Rock Inn, Underriver, Kent in 2021. Due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the Covid 19 virus we are unable to rehearse a full Shakespearean production but we wanted to keep the Society’s theme and ethos of performing the works of The Bard and so we decided to do all of them! Sevenoaks Shakespeare Society are proud to announce the auditions, therefore, for

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)

which is a rip-roaring, fast-paced romp through every play and sonnet written by the great man.

Although originally performed by three men that is not a requirement in our production so we will be considering everyone who auditions. We are looking for three confident performers who are capable of learning a large amount of dialogue and who are comfortable engaging directly with the audience and who can improvise both dialogue and action on the night. The actors will also need to be physically fit with considerable stamina as the show involves running, jumping, fights and quick changes (all socially distanced of course).

Audition dates:

10th and 11th April 2021, also Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April.

Due to limits on the number of people gathering during the audition period we will be inviting three people at a time for specific afternoon time slots on the audition dates. If you are interested in auditioning please e-mail the Director, Jess Jenner ( with your preferred day (we cannot guarantee which slot you will be allocated) and we will get back to you.

Audition venue:

The auditions will take place in Otford, Kent. Auditionees will be given the address when audition slots are allocated.

Rehearsal process:

We intend to announce the successful actors by Tuesday 13th April and rehearsals will start in person (socially distanced) on Sunday 25th April. There will be some Zoom read-throughs and discussions in the two weeks before rehearsals commence fully. Due to the physical nature of the play the successful actors will need to be “off book” as early in the rehearsal period as possible after rehearsals start.

Due to the Covid restrictions that will still be in force at the start of the rehearsal period the first month of rehearsals will take place outside (albeit in a large tent) in Otford.

Performance dates:

Thursday 8th July at 7.45pm
Friday 9th July at 7.45pm
Saturday 10th July at 7.45pm
Sunday 11th July at 3.30pm
Thursday 15th July at 7.45pm
Friday 16th July at 7.45pm
Saturday 17th July at 7.45pm
Sunday 18th July at 3.30pm

Please note that it may be necessary to postpone the performance dates in the unlikely event that the lockdown continues past 21st June 2021 and all cast members will need to be flexible should that occur.

Please note that sadly, due to a partial collapse of the curtain wall, we will not be performing at St Briavels Castle this year.

We look forward to seeing you.
