A brand new theatre in London is always exciting! Did you know that, in “The Bridge”, Nick Starr and Nicholas Hytner (who were Executive Director and Artistic Director of the National Theatre) have created a marvellous new theatre by the river. It’s close to Tower Bridge with views across to the Tower of London.Opening last October, “The Bridge” is a flexible space that can be used in many different ways:
The opening production was Young Marx that used a proscenium arch with rotating scenery.
The next production is Julius Caesar where the stalls seats will be removed with 500 tiered seats around the arena. The rest of the audience will be part of the crowd in the streets, the Senate and all the locations of the play.
The following production will use a thrust stage
There is a huge foyer with tempting food in the cafe there
Green space and seats outside will be certainly used in the better weather
A great new venture that deserves our support!
